Xero

Xero is an online accounting system that users can access from anywhere in the world. It allows users to import bank statements daily and manage multiple businesses. There is a lot that can be done with this technology. Xero can help business owners with their bank reconciliations, invoicing, and payables. There is an accrual accounting system in this technology which allows an easier system of the day to day bookkeeping.

Xero is mainly beneficial for small business owners that serve as their own accountants. It is useful in everyday life because it provides a guide for how to manage the business. It would be useful for me because I hope to own a small company one day and this would guide me in the day to day accounting activities.

The image that is posted above is what is called The Dashboard on Xero.  It allows users to have up to the minute access to the transactions that have taken place.

MyNoteit

This Web 2.0 technology allows students to take, edit, and share notes online as well as keeping an online to-do list and a calendar. Students can also perform a search in order to find notes on a certain subject as well as bookmarking these notes. There is a message board available so that students can ask questions and receive various answers.

In general, students learn in different ways. Some students learn by writing and listening while others learn from watching and listening. MyNoteit can be used in education because it allows students to take their own notes and then share and view some of their peer’s notes. By looking at other student’s notes, students can see what they missed in class. I know that I have missed important concepts a teacher has said and had no idea I missed that concept. Students can double check their notes with others in the class.

Home Finder Real Estate Tool

This iPhone App allows users to locate a home by using the GPS tool on the iPhone find their current location or by typing a search for a neighborhood. Users can view pictures of the home and save it as a favorite on their phone. They can also email the listing if needed. More importantly this application calculates monthly mortgage payments using daily interest rates from Zillow.com.

This application can easily be used in everyday life when searching for a home. Most people, when they begin looking for a house to buy, the first thing they do is ride through a couple of neighborhoods. Grant it, they can search on the internet, but seeing a house in person is much more realistic that looking at pictures on the internet. Once a house is found, the user of this application can use the GPS to locate the neighborhood they are in and use the mortgage calculator to see if the house is even affordable to the buyer. This is a huge advantage to a homebuyer because buying a house can be an emotional purchase so this application may be able to stop someone from falling in love with a house he or she cannot afford.
